Features / Markdown viewer
View Markdown files on Mac

Free
Download PeekPlain freemacOS 15 or later. Free beta.
How to, in three steps
- Open a .md file from Finder, or make PeekPlain the default for Markdown in Settings.
- Read it. Tables, task lists, callouts, math, diagrams, front matter and an outline are rendered. Press Space on a file in Finder for the Quick Look preview.
- Keep it open. When a tool or an AI assistant rewrites the file, PeekPlain reloads and keeps your place.
Free. Viewing Markdown is free, including three themes. All themes and custom CSS are in Pro.
Works offline. Your files never leave your Mac.
Rendering is offline. Previews load nothing from the network, and scripts are off. PeekPlain sends no files and no usage data anywhere; see the privacy page.
PeekPlain is in free beta and some features are still arriving. The changelog lists what has shipped.
