Sign a PDF on Mac
Draw or type your signature, place it on the page and fill in the form fields. Done in a minute.
Free
How to, in three steps
- Open the PDF and click the form fields to type in them.
- Add your signature. Draw it with the trackpad, type your name in a script style, or use an image of your signature. It is saved on your Mac so you can reuse it.
- Place it and save. Drag the signature where it belongs, resize it, then save. PeekPlain checks the saved file and keeps a backup of the original.
Free. Signing and filling in forms is free. This is an image of your signature on the page, not a certificate-based digital signature.
Works offline. Your files never leave your Mac.
Your signature is stored on your Mac, in the keychain. The PDF, your signature and your answers are never sent to a server. PeekPlain sends no files and no usage data anywhere; see the privacy page.
PeekPlain is in free beta and some features are still arriving. The changelog lists what has shipped.
Questions
Is this a legally binding signature?
It is a visual signature added to the document. Whether that is enough depends on the document and where you are, so ask the person requesting it if you are unsure. Certificate-based digital signatures are not supported yet.
Can I sign with my iPhone camera?
Yes. In the signature sheet choose From iPhone or iPad, sign a sheet of paper and take a photo; PeekPlain removes the paper background. You can also draw with the trackpad, type your name, or use an image file.
Where is my signature stored?
On your Mac, in the keychain. It is not uploaded.
Can other people sign through a link?
No. PeekPlain is an app for your own files, not a signing service.
